Left on a friday morning, took about 2 hours to get away-from-the-city. Amazed at how large California is, we drove highway 5 north the rest of the day. After 6 hours of driving we still had not reached Oregon. Instead we stopped and enjoyed Lake Shasta and the Lake Shasta caves. Spend the night at a small B&B at the foot of Mount Shasta the first, but not last, volcano we would see during out trip. Next day we drove straight through Oregon and Washington and found ourselves in beautifull Seattle. Spend a few days hanging around downtown, the Space needle, the pier and the fish markets (very cool). On the way towards Vancouver we visited the Boeing factory. At 1 km x 1 km it is the single largest building by volume in the world. Asking how many 747's you can park in that building gets you a "count em yourself buddy". And on we went to Vancouver...
